5 Awesome Nursing Pillows

Can anyone relate to having their "nursing spot on the couch?" Along side a perfect nursing set up? This includes a nursing pillow, water on the table, a snack platter and remote control by your side? We don't know about you, but there have been many a times during the newborn period where we spent hours on the couch (binge watching Netflix of course) during cluster feeds.

What saved us? An AWESOME nursing pillow.

A good nursing pillow can support your baby’s head and neck while reducing stress from your own neck, back and arms (no hunch back here)! Depending on what position works for you (cradle, lying on the back or on the side, football hold, etc), different types of pillows can be bought.

We reviewed multiple lists of awesome nursing pillows that you can buy online, and highlighted five of our favorites below!

1. Boppy Nursing Pillow

This feeding pillow gets wrapped around your waist and supports your baby’s body near your breast. Their pillows are known to be comfortable, affordable and versatile. The U-shaped design works for breastfeeding as well as for bottle-feeding. There is a wide variety of colorful patterns available in this design which is always fun! While buying this pillow, you can also pick multiple covers that can be easily be washed.

Any Downsides? Since it comes without any latch, there is a chance that it can slip down from your waist area.

2. My Breast Friend Original

The design of this pillow is a bit unique as it has a flat top. It allows for the baby to remain in a stable position and comes with a belt strap so that the pillow itself doesn’t move much while you feed your baby. For those with larger breasts, the stable flat top position can be very supportive. It has extended back-cushion support and its clever front pocket is great for holding a small water bottle, tissue, nipple cream, mobile phone, TV remote or anything else that you might need while nursing.

Any Downsides? Unlike other pillows available in the market, this one has been specifically designed for breastfeeding purposes only. So, if versatility is what you are looking for, this one probably isn’t for you.

3. Ergobaby Natural Curve

Baby carriers by this brand are a fan favourite and now Ergobaby has come up with an equally awesome nursing pillow. This pillow is known for its sturdiness and firmness which allows the baby to be raised to an appropriate height almost effortlessly. Some moms say that since this pillow doesn’t get flattened easily, they do not experience any strain on their spine while feeding.

Any Downsides? It doesn't have a strap to hold the pillow in one place. For some, the curve enables their baby to slide in the space between their body and the pillow.

4. Luna Lullaby Bosom Baby

If you are looking for a quality nursing pillow in the plus-size category, this one is your best bet. Luna Lullaby comes in a unique boomerang shape that fits around all waist sizes quite comfortably. It has a ton of super cute design patterns. And, since it’s super plush as well, it maintains its shape and seldom wears out with time.

Any Downsides? If you are more on the petite side, you might find this pillow less cozy.

5. Leachco Cuddle U

This brand is known for its super comfortable pregnancy pillows. So, it wasn’t a big surprise when Leachco’s nursing pillows became exceedingly popular in the breastfeeding pillows market. Their pillows are extra-cushiony, have an attached seat wrap strap, and can be used for a variety of purposes  for breastfeeding, for tummy time or as a seat supporter as your baby grows.

Any Downsides? The cover isn’t removable so cleaning this pillow can be a bit of a hassle.
